Rev. Charles T. Smith's legacy will live on forever. A street was recently renamed in honor of the former pastor of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Baton Rouge who served for 50 years.
America Street between South 10th and Eddie Robinson Senior Drive was changed to Charles T. Smith Boulevard. Rev. Smith passed away in September at the age of 80.
Rev. Fred Jeff Smith, Rev. Smith's son who is now pastor of the church along with other family, friends and members of the congregation attended the ceremony. Baton Rouge Mayor Kip Holden and Councilwoman Tara Wicker were also in attendance.
