The tragic death of Florida teen Trayvon Martin has captured the attention of many and sparked rallies across the nation.  Baton Rouge residents recently took part in the movement. Martin was shot and killed in Sanford, Florida by George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watchman. Zimmerman claimed self defense and was not arrested. The public is outraged and calling for his arrest.

In downtown Baton Rouge on Sunday, March 25,  a vigil was held in Martin's honor. LSU's chapter of Alpha Phi Omega hosted the vigil on the levee dock between the USS Kidd and the Arts and Sciences Museum. Participants were encouraged to wear hooded sweatshirts and bring candles.

Members of the radical New Black Panther Party are offering a bounty of $10,000 for the capture of Martin's shooter.
