Hundreds attended the 2012 Influential Women in Business luncheon at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Tuesday, June 5.
The honorees included: Barbara Auten; Rachelle 'Shelly" Deckert Dick; Kay Goodwyn; Jamie Haeuser; Jo Ellen Kearny; Dolores "Dee" LeJeune; Janet Olson; Christy Oliver Reeves; Erin Monroe Wesley; and Monica Zumo
Lisa Johnson, founding partner of the Grapevine Group, was the guest speaker. She talked about the power of storytelling.
"Stories sell," Johnson says. "The number one way to create change is to tell a story."
She says there are four types of stories everyone should have in their arsenal. They are the mentor stories ("they allow people to trust us"), the overcoming story or change of condition ("They celebrate the human story"), the innovative story ("it's all about creativity"), and the vision story.
The event was sponsored by the Business Report.
