The Union Baptist Church in Zachary celebrated Mother’s Day with the men of the church serving the ladies.  The men spoke, sang and served refreshments.  Union Baptist is located on Old Slaughter Road and is under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Lynn Alexander.

BATON ROUGE – LSU would like to remind Tiger fans who are shopping for bowl game or LSU memorabilia for the holidays to look for the “Officially Licensed Collegiate Product” label when purchasing LSU merchandise. This label assures the consumer that the product has been approved and represents the goodwill of the university. Products that do not bear the label, but use the marks of LSU, may represent trademark infringement.

When purchasing LSU merchandise, consumers should always look for the following characteristics to ensure the merchandise they purchase is officially licensed:

Public invited to meet with EBR library director candidate

Public invited to meet with EBR library director candidate

The public will have an opportunity to ask questions and give their input on the lone finalist for the East Baton Rouge Parish Library director’s job.

Assistant Directors Mary Stein and Patricia Husband talked about the candidate as well as new library construction at the Press Club Monday afternoon.

E. Spencer Watts who is currently the library director  for the Mobile, Alabama  Public Library will visit Baton Rouge on Aug. 17 and Aug. 18.

Watts will give a presentation about his vision for the library on Friday, Aug. 17 at the Jones Creek Regional branch library, 6222 Jones Creek Road, at 7 p.m.  Then he will be interviewed by the Library Board of Control Ad Hoc Committee on Saturday, Aug. 18.  The public is invited to both events. Attendees will be able to ask questions Friday and make comments after the interview on Saturday.

"It's not an automatic guarantee that he will be offered the job and certainly not an automatic guarantee that he will take it," Stein says.  "The salary is not higher than what he's making now. I believe it's comparable."
