Former Channel 9 Sports Anchor will speak at luncheon | Events
Former WAFB Sports Anchor/Reporter James Verrett will be the keynote speaker at the Baton Rouge Area Association of Black Journalists (BRAABJ) Scholarship luncheon on Thursday, April 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Boudreaux’s, 2647 Government Street, in Baton Rouge.
The organization will also honor pioneering journalists-- Henry Baptiste, the first Black photographer/reporter at WBRZ Channel 2; Maxine Crump and Henry Stewart III who were among the first Black TV personalities at WAFB Channel 9, and Ed Pratt, the first Black editor at the Advocate.
Tickets are $25 and sponsorships start at $500. Proceeds will fund scholarships for Southern University and LSU journalism students.
