Everything you need to know for Race for the Cure | Events
The 17th Annual Baton Rouge Race for the Cure will be held Saturday, March 2 at the LSU Old Front Nine. WAFB Channel 9 will have a team. Anchors Donna Brit and Jacques Doucet will emcee the program after the walk.
Online registration remains open until midnight tonight. Registration reopens at 7 a.m. on Race day. Remember, if you are unable to attend this year’s Race, you can always support the cause by selecting the Sleep In for the Cure option online and your t-shirt will be mailed to you.
Schedule of Events:
7 a.m. - Race Day Registration and Packet Pick-Up
If you’ve not yet registered, you may do so on Race day at the Registration Tent. Race day registration closes at 8 a.m. If you have registered but need to pick your packet up race morning, you may do so between 7:00-8:30 a.m. at the Registration tent as well. The Registration Tent will be marked with dark blue balloons, and Packet Pick-Up will be marked with orange balloons.
8 a.m. - Survivor Celebration
The Survivor Parade is an annual favorite in which our survivors are recognized by the years of their survivorship. If you are a survivor, please report to the Survivor tent at 7:40am to line up for the Survivor Parade. The Survivor tent will be marked with hot pink balloons.
8:30 a.m. - 1 Mile Fun Run
If you registered to participate in the 1 Mile Fun Run, do not miss the start! Line up at the starting line on CEBA Lane for the prompt 8:30am start. It’s great for kids, a warm-up for elite runners or fun for participants not able to participate in the 5K.
9 a.m. - 5k Run / Walk
The 5K Run/Walk begins promptly at 9 a.m. The starting line is NEW this year and can be found on Nicholson Extension. Keep your eyes out for two tall jesters waving to mark the start line. Please note that timed or elite runners with a blue Race bib will start at the front of the Race group. All participants without a blue bib start behind the timed and elite runners.
10:00am - Celebration / Awards / Live Band / Jambalaya Village / Photo Booth
Once you have finished running the beautiful course through LSU, the party continues with entertainment from BluePrint and Limelight entertainment, an awards ceremony, and delicious food from our Jambalaya Village! New for this year, we will have a photo booth on site so that you and your family and friends can capture the memories from this special day. The Jambalaya Village will be marked with white balloons, and the photo booth will be marked with a combination of blue and white balloons.
Please remember that registrants for the 17th Annual Baton Rouge Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure will receive a wristband in their packet that grants the wearer access to all Race day activities including our race course through the LSU campus, delicious samples from our Jambalaya Village and contest, post-race concert, and much more. Be sure and wear this wristband on Race day.
Also, new to this year's Race for the Cure is an elite and timed runner package. It includes an exclusive timed runner tent, a bib unique to elite runners, timing chip, beautiful USAT&F certified 5K course through LSU campus, and finisher medals! If you’re an elite or timed runner, don’t miss this new opportunity. The Elite Runner Tent will be marked with line green balloons.
Buddy Holmes of Waterfall Forge has generously donated a beautiful 4.5 foot Copper Heron Waterfall Fountain and Sugar Kettle valued at $3000. The Tickets are only $5 and may be purchased on Race morning. You will find this booth located directly in front of the Jambalaya Village. The winner will be announced from the stage shortly before 11 a.m.
Also, back by popular demand is the Komen Marketplace were you can buy caps, shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, cups, and more marked with the famous Komen Running Ribbon logo. The Komen Marketplace will be marked with gold balloons.
If you have donations and would like to drop them off on Race day you may do so by dropping by the Donation tent marked by green balloons. Please be sure to indicate if your contribution should be credited to an individual and/or team. The Donation tent will be marked with green balloons.
