BRCC to host Canned Good Challenge at basketball game

If you plan to attend Baton Rouge Community College’s (BRCC) basketball doubleheader against Mississippi Gulf Coast Wednesday, Nov. 14, make sure you don’t come empty handed.

BRCC’s basketball teams have partnered with the Service Learning Department and the Student Government Association to host a food drive to help feed needy families for Thanksgiving.

Fans are encouraged to bring canned goods and other non-perishable food items to the game, and will have the option of placing donations in either the men’s or women’s team collection bin.

The team that collects the most items wins the challenge.

“It’s nice to be able to use our home games for such a good cause, said Neil Hayhurst, athletic director.

“We are going to have lots of fun with this event, and I hope to see everyone there,” he said.

The women are scheduled to play at 5 p.m., and the men will play immediately following.
