Local Baton Rouge Personal Injury Attorney Gordon McKernan is bringing awareness to children’s safety in motor vehicles by giving away 94 free car seats. Gordon Gives is proud to announce the giveaway just in time for Summer driving.

According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death for children ages 3 – 14.  Research also shows that when used correctly, child safety and booster seats are extremely effective and can reduce the risk of injury and death in crashes.

The alarming statistics and his own experience handling car wrecks prompted McKernan to donate the seats.  All too often parents receive and re-use car seats because they can’t afford to purchase new ones.  What they don’t realize is car seat companies are constantly updating car seats with new safety features and enhancements.  When a parent uses an old one, they aren’t up-to-date with safety regulations, thus putting the child at a higher risk for harm if in a crash.
