Free self defense classes | Community Spirit

The Baton Rouge Police Department will once again offer free self-defense classes for women. The sixteen-hour class will be offered in four parts on the following nights:

• Session 1: April 12, 14, 19 and 21
• Session 2: May 3, 5, 10 and 12

Classes will be held at the Police Academy gym, 704 Mayflower, starting each night at 6:00 p.m. and ending around 10 p.m.           Participants must be at least 13 years old with no current injuries. This class involves hands-on, physical training. Attendance at the first session is mandatory in order to be eligible to attend subsequent sessions.

There is no cost to participate, but each class is limited to about 25 participants. This popular training always fills up quickly. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
