Interstate 12 closures planned for weekend | Business
Baton Rouge— Interstate 12 westbound will be reduced to one travel lane Saturday, May 19 from 5 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m. The lane closure will occur between Pete’s Highway and 4-H Club Road. The two current westbound lanes will be closed and traffic will be routed onto the far left lane.
Drivers can also expect the Range Avenue on-ramp to I-12 westbound to be reduced to a single lane on Sunday, May 20 from 5 a.m. until approximately 6 p.m. In addition, this ramp will be completely closed on May 20 between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
During the lane and ramp closures construction crews will be working on the slope of the roadway. This work is difficult to perform at night because of low-light conditions.
Westbound drivers on I-12 may detour around the planned lane closure by exiting at Juban Road (Exit 12) and traveling north to Florida Boulevard. Turn left onto Florida Boulevard and travel west to Old Hammond Highway. Turn left onto Old Hammond Highway and travel west to O’Neal Lane. Turn left onto O’Neal lane and travel south to re-connect with I-12.
Range Avenue traffic may bypass the on-ramp closure and access I-12 westbound at Juban Road or O’Neal Lane.
The planned construction work is weather dependent and may be re-scheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution in all construction zones and to obey the lower posted speed limits.
