Dr. Alan Sonsky has joined Baton Rouge General Physicians, practicing at Baton Rouge General Gastroenterology.

Dr. Sonsky is Board Certified in Gastroenterology, and comes to Baton Rouge from the Opelousas and Lafayette area with more than 25 years experience in gastroenterology.

Dr. Sonsky graduated from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Valencia in Valencia, Spain, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Long Island College Hospital.  He then went on to complete his fellowship in gastroenterology at St. Mary's Hospital, an affiliate of University of Rochester School of Medicine in Rochester, New York. 

Dr. Sonsky served as an instructor of medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and as the Chief of Gastroenterology at New York Community Hospital in Brooklyn, New York.  He is a current member of the American College of Gastroenterology.

The two prisoners who walked away from a work detail Sunday afternoon were captured after someone spotted them and called authorities.

According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, Brett Hebert, 23, and Charles Lidberg, 22, were caught around 10:30 p.m.

A concerned citizen called police around 10:15 p.m. and reported seeing two men in prison uniforms.

The escapees were spotted in the area of Ardenwood and Greenwell Springs Road.

Police set up a perimeter in the area and soon found the inmates in the 6400 block of Greenwell Springs Road.

Hebert and Lidberg were booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on resisting arrest and fugitive charges.

The two men were trustees at Dixon Correctional Facility, but were working at the Louisiana Department of Transportation in Baton Rouge.

They ran away around 1 p.m.

Hebert was serving time for robbery and battery.

Lidberg was in prison on burglary and theft charges.
